Microsoft withdraw support for Windows7 in 2020

Although it has been well publicised that Microsoft will withdraw support for Windows7 in 2020, many questions have surfaced online. In this article we give you all the facts you need to make an informed decision as to whether now is the right time for you to upgrade to Windows 10.

Can I still use Windows 7?

Yes, you can still use the Windows 7 Operating System but your computer will become increasingly vulnerable to security issues. Features will no longer be updated, and security patches no longer automatically applied. Therefore, you would have to weigh the risks of continuing use as opposed to upgrading to Windows 10. If you are running Windows 7 in your business, you are taking a considerable risk. If you wish to discuss further please email us.

When will Microsoft end support for Windows 7?

Microsoft will support the operating system until January 14th, 2020. After that there will be no further security patches issued. In brief, end of life (EOL), extended support for personal devices will end. Business users will be able to pay for additional support for a short time. However, this is likely to be costly and as developers stop writing software for the platform and turn attention to Windows 10, computers running Windows 7 will soon become outdated.

I’ve heard Windows 10 is not as good?

As with all operating systems at launch, there were teething problems but Windows 10 is reliable, quick and has more features. Windows announced the  Windows 10 system was safe and stable for enterprise.
