Happy Christmas

Happy Christmas!

Happy Christmas to all our friends

Happy Christmas! Every good blog should have entertaining posts. There should be something that helps, educates or entertains. With this in mind I sat down to write a general blog today. Maybe take the time to write a Christmas message that would lift my reader for five minutes as they kindly read my words.

It’s such a busy, stressful time of year as people begin to wind-down from work. Last minute bargains and plans for two weeks of festivities full of love and laughter. What could I usefully add to the mix?

So then I got to thinking about the families, who, through no fault of their own, have very little income. Also, individuals who have no family. Those who, through illness, cannot leave the house. In addition, I’d watched the man on the moon advert about loneliness. There will be all those who are homeless during this bitter cold and wet winter.

I think about these things every year, but do little about it.

Another thing we don’t like to think about are hospices and the incredibly work they do with little official support.  My heart goes out to the bereaved. George Michael said in the song Praying for Time, “Charity is a coat you wear twice a year.” This year let’s all do a little bit more to help those struggling, hurting or suffering in silence and make sure they have a happy Christmas.

As a business Nybble in 2016 will be actively involved in local community, we have lots of ideas in place as to areas we think we can help. I’m really looking forward to seeing those projects leave the planning stage and come into fruition.

Keep an eye on our website blog and our two Facebook pages https://www.facebook.com/nybbleict/ and https://www.facebook.com/Nybblecouk-Ltd-1378079462509748/ for news and updates.

As individuals we can all do a little bit this Christmas, but more importantly continue that throughout the year. Believe it or not, for a family struggling to keep warm this chilly winter an extra ten pounds on the gas meter may be more welcome than a tub of Quality Street and advent calendars for the kids. Likewise, instead of buying individual presents for a household why not take that money and make a homemade hamper instead? Again, a total godsend for a family struggling with bills and feeding little mouths.

Bear in mind Mum and Dad are probably doing without a lot of things in order to treat the children to a happy Christmas, so pop in some little treats with that in mind. One lady I know spends every Christmas in a homeless shelter serving up Christmas dinner, enjoys it so much it is now part and parcel of her Christmas tradition. It seems giving from the heart, even if it is just your time, is rewarding and addictive.

Educate your children that not everyone has a happy Christmas, think twice about posting a picture on Facebook of a huge pile of presents under the tree – yes it looks great but do consider that for some, putting one present under a tree is a major achievement. Just spare a thought for those in different circumstances. Maybe ask your children if they have any old toys they no longer need that are in good clean condition and donate to your local children’s hospital ward, a recent stay in hospital with my grandchild showed me how well needed they are.

“How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.”

“No one ever got poor from giving…” Anne Frank

Community spirit still exists and people still care about others. When you see someone devastated it is instinctual to offer a helping hand. That is the generosity of the human spirit, to give is far more natural than not to. The beauty of it is it takes so little. You may not be able to change the world but you can make a difference.

Happy Christmas from the team at Nybble, thank you for your continued support and good wishes; may 2016 be filled with blessings, happiness and success.

And please if you have a drink this season, call a cab…

Be safe and keep others safe.
